Wedding Day Struggles and Advice According to your Enneagram

If you’re a one…

You may struggle with making sure everything is perfect. But no wedding day goes exactly as you plan it to. Having to adapt to constant changes may lead to a lot of stress, especially when everything doesn’t seem to be working. If you find yourself worrying about your day, just remember – a wedding is about the people you’re with. And make sure to hire a wedding planner!

If you’re a two…

You care so much about other people, you may end up accommodating their opinions too much. Remember that your wedding is your special day, and you are the one who gets to choose everything (not your mom or your friends). Make sure to choose the decorations that you love! It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

If you’re a three…

Like twos, you  tend to care a lot about what others think. You may find yourself choosing a venue or a dress simply because you think your friends would be impressed. But your wedding day is not about how awesome everyone thinks you are! Remember to make decisions based on what you really want, not just what you think others would like.

If you’re a four…

You love being unique. It’s likely very important to you that your wedding is different from everyone else’s. Like twos and threes, you also might need to remember that your wedding day is about you, not your friends or anyone else. Unique weddings can be so much fun, but make sure you’re doing what you really want – not just the opposite of everyone else.

If you’re a five…

You tend to be very independent, so wedding planning may be a struggle for you. Dealing with everyone’s opinions, and having to talk to so many different vendors might be really draining for you. Remember to take some time for yourself everyday to get away from all the craziness. And if you don’t want to deal with any of it… you can always elope!

If you’re a six…

You might struggle with making decisions and tend to look to others for guidance. This may be the easy option in the short term, but when it comes to your wedding day, you might feel like it’s not even yours. There’s nothing wrong with talking to friends and family about their opinions, but make sure to form your own opinion before making any decisions.

If you’re a seven…

You probably don’t enjoy long-term planning. You may struggle with staying motivated to plan your own wedding, so remember that you can ask for help! Definitely hire a wedding planner to keep you on track and don’t be afraid to ask friends or family for help if you’re really struggling. This way, you can have fun thinking of ideas, and other people can bring them to life!

If you’re an eight…

You tend to have very strong opinions, and may have difficulty working with people. Although  it’s so good to stand up for yourself, some plans are going to have to change. Remember that nothing happens exactly how you plan it, and that’s okay! Don’t forget to delegate at least some tasks, so you don’t end up with the stress of doing everything yourself.

If you’re a nine…

Making decisions is certainly not your strongest trait, so wedding planning may be a challenge. Like sixes, you often prefer to let others decide things for you. But your wedding day is your day! You may be perfectly fine letting someone else handle all the specifics for you, but try to really take time and think about what you want. Even if it’s just a few things, make sure you stay strong in what you want.

Ten Tips for a Perfect Summer Wedding

Thinking of getting married in the summer?? Here are some tips that could save you from a heat disaster!

  1. Dress for the weather! Make sure you and your wedding party aren’t wearing anything too hot if you’re going to be outside!
  2. Take photos early! This way you won’t be stuck outside during the hottest part of the day.
  3. Wear sunscreen under your makeup! If you’re taking photos outside, you don’t want to get burned before you have to walk down the aisle

  4. Make sure there’s space in the shade so your guests don’t get too hot… or burned!
  5. Start planning early and be flexible! Summer weddings are high in demand, so make sure you’re thinking ahead.
  6. Choose a venue with both indoor and outdoor space (like The Rutherford!). This way, you can enjoy the sunshine without getting too hot.
  7. Keep the weather in mind when choosing your food. No one wants to eat hot soup in the summer heat!
  8. Plan your makeup accordingly! Avoid liquid makeup that might melt off in the sun. EVERYTHING should be waterproof!!

  9. Don’t forget about fans. If your ceremony is outside, try to get some strong fans to blow on your guests!
  10. Stay hydrated!! Drink water all day, especially if you’re outside a lot. This will help to save your energy and even to cool down!

Hope this helps you to plan your summer wedding! You can never be too prepared!

How To: Adjust to a New Wedding Season

We know it’s hard to have any definite plans about your wedding with constant changes in social distancing guidelines.

The number one reason? Makeup doesn’t sweat off your face!

All the (more serious) reasons we love fall weddings!

  1. The weather’s still warm, but not sticky and sweaty! Hello, outdoor ceremonies! And no more frizzy hair! Cross that worry off your list.

The Rutherford – Quick Tips for Photo Ops

With all of the different elements at the Rutherford, photos can be taken in the style that fits your aesthetic.

Brick Room Windows

A fan-favorite spot for stunning and elegant photos is in our upstairs brick room. With the original hardwood floors, a brick backdrop, and tons of natural light from the almost-floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s no wonder that so many brides choose to have their photos taken here.

Under the Lights

One of our favorite parts of receptions is when couples sneak away for a few shots under the lights. There’s just something about that post-wedding glow that makes these photos even more special and intimate.

The Greenery Wall

Our green wall is one of the most versatile spots for photo-ops! We’ve seen it used as a cake table background, an accent wall, and a place for some of those first kisses. Seeing how clients customize it always inspires us!

The Pretty Place is Pretty Beautiful!

We recently held a reception for a bride and groom who got married at Pretty Place Chapel. Fred W. Symmes Chapel (dubbed ‘Pretty Place’ because of its beauty) is located at YMCA Camp Greenville in the mountains just outside of Greenville. The chapel sits on the edge of a cliff overlooking the rolling hills that reside on the North Carolina/South Carolina border.

The Best Selfie Background

The beauty of this location is so difficult to capture even in the best pictures, and it is nearly impossible to do it justice in words. The front of the chapel is open and looks out on the gorgeous view. In the center of the floor there is a cross, and above the cross there is a ledge with a line of scripture on it that reads “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills”. This is extraordinarily poetic considering the scene that it sits in front of.  Needless to say this is definitely a dream wedding destination for people who adore mountain scenery.

Conveniently Located By The Rutherford

The great thing about holding the ceremony at Pretty Place and then having their reception at The Rutherford was that the couple and guests got to experience both a beautiful natural setting during the ceremony and then a trendy urban setting for their reception.  They could enjoy the mountains and all of their natural beauty, and then they were able to come celebrate in a cozy space that was more appropriate for a party and dancing. This plan was absolutely perfect for providing their guests with a unique and diverse experience.  You can easily have this experience too if you go onto the Pretty Place website and fill out the reservation request form. Then all you have to do is contact us for your amazing reception!
