The Rutherford Logo—Explained

The Rutherford Logo—Explained

Have you ever wondering what our logo means—and why it means so much to us?

When designing our logo, we wanted to highlight the three spaces that define the Rutherford and all the events we can host because of them.

Not only does the R stand for Rutherford, but the three different parts of our R logo represent the three different spaces that we have at our venue—the Brick Room, the Warehouse, and the Courtyard.

The Brick Room is our upstairs spaces and features the original hardwood floors and plenty of windows for natural light.

Downstairs is our Warehouse, which we’ve seen transformed into dance floors, reception dinners, and cocktails hours.

Stepping outside of the Warehouse will lead you to the Courtyard, which might be one of our favorites for dancing under the lights or daytime parties.

We’re always so excited to offer our clients three unique spaces when it comes to planning their events. The brick room, warehouse, and courtyard are all customizable to each event and offer a plethora of opportunities to design with and around.

Let us know how our spaces could help you plan your next event!

Three Different Spaces = A Whole Evening of Events

Three Different Spaces = A Whole Evening of Events

Wedding day logistics are stressful! Let any-bride-to-be tell you. There are pictures and decorations and the ceremony and the reception and send-off. All of these moving parts, especially when you start moving places, can add more chaos to your big day.

The Rutherford can provide a solution to the crazy logistics of the day, especially when all parts of the day are done in our venue.

Wedding ceremonies typically either take place in our Brick Room, or, if the weather decides to cooperate, outside in the Courtyard. Both have beautiful backdrop options and plenty of room for guests to watch the ceremony unfold.

Following the ceremony, most brides choose to have their cocktail hour in the reverse of their ceremony—either the Courtyard or the Brick Room. This gives the couple plenty of time to take pictures after the ceremony while their guests mingle right next door.

The Warehouse tends to be the most popular spot for food, drinks, and dancing. It can be set up for a sit-down dinner or flipped to a dance floor for you to get your boogie on.

Guests can also float outside to chat under the lights or to catch their breath after an evening of dancing.

Send-offs are done from our parking lot and are a magical way to end a special day.

By flowing the events of the evening throughout our different spaces, you can truly enjoy the time without feeling rushed to get to the next place while still have distinct spaces for each part of the night.

A Unique Way to Eat (or Cater) on Your Wedding Day

“People who love to eat are always the best people.” – Julia Child

Making sure that you—and your guests—are well-fed on your wedding day is a top priority. Ask any caterer—food is always something people are willing to splurge on in order to elevate their event.

But what about those in-between moments or a-typical food requests?

Enter: Bite Squad

A service that brings your favorite food directly to you, Bite Squad can be used for more than just an in-office lunch delivery. It’s perfect for ordering lunch for a bridal party or even a favorite dish to serve during cocktail hour or a reception.

Lunches and Such

For a bridal party lunch, delivery can be scheduled out in advance, so all you have to focus on is your big day. Chick-Fil-A, Sully’s Steamers, Caviar and Bananas, and Moe’s are all delivery options in Greenville (along with +100 other restaurants). With such a variety of offerings, you can make sure that there’s something for everyone to eat.

Food is priced as it would be in the restaurant and you simply pay an added delivery fee. (most restaurants charge around $3-5 for delivery).

The Main Event

If you’re looking to have food catered to your event (we recently had a bride feature Hooter’s wings as part of her dinner offerings), Bite Squad features a catering option. You pick your date, time, and the number of people, and they make sure that your food is delivered and ready to go when you want it!

Restaurants that cater featuring their catering menus online, and there are over 25 options in the Greenville area to help feed a larger number of people at your event. Delivery fees for catering range from $5-15, depending on the restaurant.

Make sure that you—and your friends—are well-fed the whole day by planning your food ahead (or ordering whatever you’re craving in the moment). Whatever your style, you can stay put and enjoy the day while Bite Squad takes care of the logistics of lunch.

Meet AUDREY – Our Summer Creative!

Hi! My name is Audrey, and I’m a rising senior at Furman University double majoring in Communication and German Studies. I’m originally from Toledo, Ohio, but I absolutely adore Greenville.  I am so happy to call it my home for the summer.

I’m so excited to be interning at the Rutherford this summer and working in both social media marketing and event planning. The space itself inspires me, and I can’t wait to help create and assist with impressionable events in it over the coming months.

Last year, I spent a semester studying abroad in Berlin, but had no idea what I wanted to pair my German major with at the time. I came home to an internship in content marketing and loved getting to play with words to create a meaningfulness message. Now, I want to dip my toes into a more client-facing industry, getting to work on interpersonal communication and event planning while still focusing on marketing and strategic communication.

When I was younger, my dream job was to design the window displays for J.Crew or Anthropologie after seeing a snow cone themed designed one summer. Now, I would love to go into marketing and event planning—maybe even for a museum abroad!

When I’m not busy with school (which is most of the time), I’m planning my sorority’s upcoming recruitment season, running on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, making new Spotify playlists, and bopping around different coffee shops. Oat milk lattes are life-changing.

If there’s anything you want to see featured on the blog or on social media, let me know!

Meet KATHERINE – Our Summer Creative

My name is Katherine Valliant and I am a Junior at Furman University.  I am a double major in communications studies and politics and international affairs. I am also a member of the student-run musical theater organization on campus!  I am so excited to be interning at The Rutherford this summer.  I love planning events especially weddings.  While I’m working for The Rutherford I hope to learn more about how event planning works, how to run a social media platform for a small business, and how to network with other professionals working in my field.  I can’t wait to see what lies in store for me in this internship!

In my free time I love to sing, dance, hang out with my friends, and watch Netflix. My favorite show that I am binging right now is probably The Crown, and my favorite show that I always re-watch when I’m bored would be The Office. I love musical theater, and my favorite musicals currently are Hamilton and Cabaret.

My favorite book series of all time is Harry Potter. Fun fact: I was the Harry Potter Trivia champion in my high school for two years in a row.  I’m so excited for this summer and I can’t wait to share more of myself with you through blog posts!
